This is actually, genuinely fun, and I really want you to keep it up, which amazes me because this is something that happens like once a year, and 2010 was already taken care of by postsecret.com!This is a really convolute way to say Good Job Guys, You Got Yourselves A Fan!Giby

Ok you know I’ll buy that they invent an energy beam that can blast through the earths crust….i’ll buy that. I will also buy that they have crafted a form of generator capable of providing enough power to punch that laser through 15- 20 miles of solid crustal rock. Hell I’ll even believe that they can create a tungsten armored mole ship that can convert heat and pressure into energy, (actually that part is true, tungsten does produce electricity when heats applied but only minute levels, plus it is the only metal that can withstand 10,000 degrees of heat near the earths core…but i digress). But I will never buy into a plan that uses nuclear bombs, exploding in the earths mantle to create a pressure wave powerful enough to restart the earths spin. And I’m gonna put aside the obvious things like the bombs are not powerful enough or the earth is to big, and simply focus on one solitary principle as to why this would never work. The plan rely’s on a continuous uninterrupted transfer of energy through the wave into the medium it’s traveling to create friction against the core and drag it back to spinning life. Accept thats not possible in the mantle for one very important reason….IT”S MADE OF ROCK! The only way a pressure wave would travel in the fashion that they want it to would be if the mantle was made of water! water is a non compressible material, as such a pressure wave would more or less travel unimpeded through it. where as rock…IS A COMPRESSIBLE MATERIAL! As such a nuke exploding in liquid rock would have its pressure wave completely absorbed by the rock within a couple square miles… people theres a reason nuke tests were done under ground in the 50’s… it’s because solid earth is an excellent buffer against impact waves. But even if you put that aside, producing an explosion powerful enough to restart the earths spin would literally blow the crust apart. The crust is not some indestructible shell of adamantium… it’s more or less a flaky paper thin sheet of sand and stone shaving piled on the mantle much like a paper mache! You would have the crust crumple like a piece of alluminium foil, sink into the mantel and the oceans jettison into space and form a new saturn like ring system. Of course doing nothing leads to a planet with year long day, antarctic extremes a airless equator, and a flooded north and southern hemispere. so either way…. your screwed.
